Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Thinking of you

Here is my entry to Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Thinking of You.  I decided to be different and enter a tag or bookmark instead of a card.  I used Tim Holtz's Tag Dies to make my tag.  Then I used my Tim Holtz's Mini Distress ink pads to create my background.  My stamp image is "Folksy Feathers" by Unity Stamp Company.  My sentiment is from "He's a Wordy Buck" also by Unity Stamp Company.  I colored my stamp image using Prismacolor Pencils.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: TRANSPORT IT

Here is my entry to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: TRANSPORT IT.   I was so excited when I discovered Wednesday's Challenge theme.  I was lucky enough to buy some awesome Kelly Purkey Stamps during a Simon Says Stamp Stamptember sale.  Nothing says transport like sailing.  I used Kelly Purkey "Ahoy" stamp set and A LOT of embossing powder.  I was an embossing fool this weekend.  My 11 year old son and I tag teamed the embossing powder like a boss.   Argh! Shiver me timbers! I hope you like my card you scurvy dogs!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Stamp-It

Here is my entry into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Stamp-It.  I had a lot of fun with these Owl Stamps.  I tried using my Color Pencils and Gamsol but I'm not sure if I really favor that technique.  LOL  My Gamsol experimentation last night was a disasters.  I had more Gamson on me instead of my card.  I think I like my Prismacolor Blender Pencil better.  I made this card for my best friend.  If she reads my blog I'm sure I just spoiled the surprise.

Simon Says Monday Challenge: Boldly go into STAMPtember!

I'm hitting the ground and running into STAMPtember!  Here is my entry into Simon Says Monday Challenge: Boldly go into Stamptember!  I fell in love with the Inkadinkado Stamp Set "Test Tubes." I love these awesome bold stamps for Halloween.  I took a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock and used my blending tool and applied Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Phone" and "Black Soot" to my background.  Once all my ink was applied I activated it with some water.  When my background was dry, I added text by using Unity Stamp Company's "Insta-live,love, dream" and stamping it with Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink.  To finish off the background, I heat embossed the sentiment and spider web from Inkadinkado Stamp Set "All Hallow's Eve" with Recollections Embossing Powder in "Ebony" and "Gold."  To make the Test Tubes and Beakers, I embossed the Inkadinkado "Test Tubes" Stamp Set with Ebony and then water colored my imaging using my Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colour Sketchers' Pocket Box.  I hope you enjoy! HAPPY STAMPTEMBER!

Here is my entry to Simon Says Monday Challenge: Anything Goes! I really struggled with this card.  I must have cut the front off and remounted this image several times. I won't even mention my horrible failed attempt at embossing.  I paper pieced this card and lost track of all the paper I used.  I can't begin to guess how many layers of paper and card stock I glued together.  I hope you enjoy, this card was a tough one!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: In the Family

Here is my entry into Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: In the Family and Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday: Blue. Okay, you are probably wondering what ice cream has to do with family.  In my family we love ice cream.  I work 3rd shift so I don't have many opportunities to get out of the house in daylight hours.  Also, I have really odd days off.  The one consistent activity in my family on my Fridays off is going to Tony's Coneys and getting ice cream. We don't deviate from our order.  Ice cream in our house is a big family affair and serious business.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets ever.

Front of the card.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: ANYTHING GOES!

Here is my entry to Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: ANYTHING GOES! I am also entering Unity Stamp Company Friends With Flair Friday. I decided to have fun with this challenge and do a whimsical card.  This card always makes me laugh.  It makes me think of picnics and pizza parlors.  I paper pieced this card. Unfortunately, I don't remember what paper pads I used.  When I start paper piecing I usually use three or four different paper pads.  I promise to keep better track of them next time.  The stamp set is Unity Stamp Co. "OLIVE you."  Also the Washi Tape is "Freckle Fawn" from my Simon Says June 2014 Card Kit.  I love their card kits!  It's an awesome way to try new products and build up your stamp collection.  I hope you enjoy the card!

Simon Says Monday Challenge: J is for…

Here is my entry into Simon Says Monday Challenge: J is for….  My J is for joking.  I was joking around when I made this card for Oscar to celebrate his Birthday.  I love this image from Art Impressions.  I made a simple card with no embellishments.  I wanted the image to be the focal point.  So much awesomeness is going on in this hilarious rubber stamp. I love the gentleman quietly observing the festivities while his hat slowly burns.  For this card, I used plain yellow card stock to make the card base.  The Rubber Stamp is "Art Impressions Golden Oldies #UMU552.  This image was stamped with Ranger Archival Ink on Strathmore Watercolor Paper and Colored with Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: About a Face

Here is my entry into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: About a Face.   The challenge never said that the Face had to be human.  This is the weirdest card I have ever made and it requires and explanation.  I just started painting with Watercolors.  Actually I just started painting.  I have never painted before.  I'm a paper pencil, graphite, charcoal kind of gal.  This started off with me just playing with watercolors.  I decided to use this as a way to express my feelings.  This card became a  little bit of Art Therapy.  It may not be the best painting but it was a wonderful way to express myself.  A friend of mine, that I went to High School with, past away last week.  It's been many years since I had seen him but we lived in the same city and kept in touch through Facebook.  This face is Dink the Cat.  This is my painting of Joe's best buddy Dink, wrapped in his favorite blanket.  One thing we shared was the love of weird cats.  Here is my tribute to Dink, the rescued Peterbald, and my friend Joe.  I even included a black heart on my card.  Joe was an excellent guitar player and Joey Blackheart was his stage name.  Enjoy the card!  I'm going to miss you Joe!

Here is the supplies I used to create this care:
1. Dink and his blanket was hand drawn and water colored with Sakura Koi Water Color Pocket Field Sketch Box.
2. Simon Says Red Card Stock

Simon Says Monday Challenge: start from scratch!

Here is my entry to Simon Says Monday Challenge: start from scratch!I love Cupcakes and Cupcake stamps.  I made a Birthday card in the past using Hero Arts "Happy Birthday Cupcake" Cling Stamps.  I decided to remake my card.  Instead of using the Cupcake stamp, I made my cupcake from scratch.  I sketched a Cupcake and used my Sakura Koi Water Color Pocket Field Sketch Box to paint this picture.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Shake It !

Here is my entry into Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Shake it!  I have never made a Shaker Card.  LOL  I don't think I will every make another Shaker Card again. EVER! I had to Google, You Tube, etc to figure out how to make this card.  I also didn't have any supplies, especially cool sparkly pieces of glittery awesomeness to shake in my card.   I knew my time was short to get to the store but the kids committed mutiny and demanded Ice Cream instead. I'm easily bribed with a Twix Candy Whiz from our local Dairy Bar down the road.  So Sunday evening I set with no Shaker Card supplies.  I became determined to make this card with what I had in the house.  At first, after I was drinking my second cup of Coffee, I decided to use my " Fiskars Stamp Set: Latte Love."  I'm thinking this is going to be cool, I'll put coffee in this card.  I bet know one has thought of this.  So I Google it and apparently everyone else thought it was a cool novel thing to do also.  I was still determined to make this card.  I didn't have any foam.  I asked my husband, I asked my kids, especially my son who is one step from being a hoarder but I had no luck.  I was a women on a mission.  I sketched the teacup by hand and painted it with my Sakura Koi Water Color Pocket Field Sketch Box.   The sentiment I stamped from " Fiskars Stamp Set: Latte Love."  Just to let you know, I'm currently covered in glue and tea at the moment.  If you shake my card, you will be covered in glue and tea too.

Simon Says Monday Challenge: W is for White

Here is my entry into Simon Says Monday Challenge: W is for White.  Oh no, white is not my favorite color especially for a card. This was a challenge keeping the card white but still adding a little touch of color.  This card is not perfect.  Please notice the glaring hack job on the purple border.  LOL I'm blaming it on my misplaced border and my failed attempt at correcting it with my dull (won't cut melted butter) craft knife.  Do I dare to mention the black smudges on the inside of the card?  Oops, that's what I get for not using a smaller acrylic block.  I made this card for my mother.  Though it's not perfect, it's made with love and that is what counts.

I used the following supplies:
1. Art Impressions Stamp: Laughing Set #4385
2. Simon Says Stamp: Favorite Flowers
3. Ranger Archival Ink
4. QuicKutz Nesting Card Templates
5. Memento Dew Drops in Lavender and New Sprout

Challenge: I ought to use this more!

I am entering Simon Says Monday Challenge: I ought to us this more!  I ought to use my Watercolor Pencils more!  I have never used Watercolor Pencils before.  When I think of watercolors, I always think back to when I was in grade school using those box watercolors.  I was never good with them.  My picture always ended up as a soupy mess.  No matter what colors I mixed they always became brown.  I was so surprised with Watercolor Pencils.  I loved them so much, I woke my husband up in the middle of the night waving a pencil in one hand and a paintbrush in the other declaring that they were the best thing since sliced bread.  Unfortunately, he didn't share my enthusiasm and promptly went back to sleep.

I used the following supplies:

1. Ranger Archival Ink
2. Lawn Fawn Stamps "Love you S'more"
2. Lawn Fawn Craft Dies "Love you S'more"
3. Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils

Challenge: Magic

Here is my entry into Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Magic.  I must confess, I didn't have anything in my card making stash that was magic related.  I didn't have papers, stamp sets, a magic wand, or anything.  I had to improvise a lot!  The card base is red card stock.  I stamped the rabbit and colored it with my colored pencils.  I had to make the wand and hat from scratch.  I drew the hat and wand on black card stock free handed.  Then I paper pieced the wand and hat with red and white card stock.  I added the final touches with my colored pencils.  The playing cards I cut out from white card stock and stamped the stars from Simon Says Stamp "All Boy" Stamp set.  I'm not sure what brand the individual wooden stamp letters I used are.  It was an inexpensive wooden stamp set  from Michaels.  It took me forever and many tries to get the lettering stamped somewhat straight.  I gave up and decided the crooked letters gave it character.  It makes me appreciate clear cling stamps and acrylic blocks.  I need to invest in some more distress inks and maybe a craft heating tool. The background of the cards would have been much easier to create using distress ink.  I had to go with what I had on hand,  the card background was created with color pencils and lots of blending.  Of course after all that work I realized that I was working on my card upside down and that it opened the wrong way.  I had to cut the front off and remount the card on a new piece of card stock.  I hope you enjoy the card!!

Anything Goes Challenge

Here is my entry into Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.  Once again I told my husband that I was going to set this one out.  I'm getting behind on video Gaming.  I planned to spend the night playing my Playstation 4 after the kids fell asleep.  Of course at the last minute, I decided to make a card instead.  I'm relatively new to card making.  I've only been doing this for about three months. Therefore I lack many supplies. Slowly, I am stocking up my card tool arsenal.  I am using MacGyver's method of card making less frequently.  My husband is glad to have his tape measure back.  I also broke down and bought a scoring board so I can put away the butter knife. In this challenge I could do anything I wanted but I decided to make a card with the 1st stamp set that I ever bought.  This card reminds me of a shadowbox.  I paper pieced the cup and spoon. I used so much different paper that once again I lost track of the paper pads I used. I also used an embossing folder and Tim Holtz Distress Ink to give the card a tooled leather look.

Here is the supplies I used:

1. Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Black Soot
2. QuicKutz Cutting Dies: Nesting Card Templates
3. Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
4. Fiskars Stamp Set: Latte Love

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: The Artsy Stamp

Okay I said I wasn't going to do this challenge.  I told my husband that I was setting this one out.  He laughed at me and told me I would have a card by morning.  I love my husband!  LOL  He knows me so well.  So here is my entry for Simon Says Monday Challenge: The Artsy Stamp.   Let me be absolutely honest and let you know up front that I'm not artsy. This was hard for me.  I started to think about Stained Glass Windows and mosaics.  Then I got this idea to paper piece this card.  It started out a horrible mess.  I had paper everywhere.  I had paper in my hair, stuck to the cat, and covering the floor.  I think I glued my fingers together twice before the night was over.  I almost gave up and threw the card away but I kept at it.  I love the little artsy bunny and plant stamp.  I don't remember what paper pads I used.  I gave up trying to keep track on this card.  Also no die cuts here, I hand cut this card. It was just me and a pair of scissors.

Here are the stamps I used:
1. Prima Marketing Inc Item #544959
2. Prima Marketing Inc Item #545086
3. Dylusions: Clearly Doodle Parts

Good Morning!  I'm going to bed now that my card is done :-)

Challenge: Botanical

I made this for Simon Says Monday Challenge: Botanical. I started thinking about Patchwork Quilts and then I made this card.  I paper pieced the flowers and hand sewed the Love sign.  I lost track of all the paper I used.  I made this card with Fiskars Petal From Scratch stamp set.
